Referring a case to Cologne
Dens Colonia takes on the endodontic part of the treatment and nothing else. The patient remains yours, the tooth comes back to you sealed and ready for the definitive restoration, and correspondence with the practice can be in English.
The one thing worth stating first
Your patient stays your patient. This practice carries out the endodontic assignment and returns the case. There is no transfer of the patient, and no treatment outside that assignment. No hygiene, no restorative work beyond the seal, no implants.
The tooth is returned chewing-stable and definitively sealed, with a fibre post fitted where that is necessary. The definitive restoration, crown or partial crown, and all further care remain with you.
Cases that make sense to refer
- Retreatment after a failed root canal, including removal of the existing filling material
- Calcified or obliterated canals
- Separated instruments and ledged canals
- Anatomy that could not be located, in particular the second mesiobuccal canal
- Perforations and internal or external resorption
- Dental trauma, including replantation and splinting
- A second opinion before extracting a tooth
How a referral runs
- You announce the case. By email, or your patient brings a referral note. A brief line on the finding and what you have already attempted saves an appointment.
- Examination and assessment. The patient receives a clear statement on whether the tooth can be kept, and a written cost estimate before treatment starts.
- Treatment under the operating microscope, normally across two sessions.
- Return with a written report, including radiographs, so you can proceed with the definitive restoration.
